April Skies (fake live recording)

I was experimenting with ways to set up a live recording configuration in my practice space for Wizard Van to record some songs. To test it out, I went around and recorded each part of this song myself through all the mics. I did the vocals and rhythm guitar at the same time, with the vocals going through the PA and everything at rehearsal volume so I could hear how much bleed I was dealing with. Came out sounding like a decent board recording at a small club. Was tempted to overdub the half-hearted sounds of disaffected bar patrons, but didn't.

Think About Me

I demoed a glam stomp version of this tune for a new project. Perhaps it will see the light of day.

Hearts In Her Eyes

I started recording this with the intention that the Parties would do it, but ended up finishing it myself.

Do Unto Others

Not sure what inspired this. I guess I felt like tackling the vocal part. The funny thing is I listened to the original version afterwards and realized I went completely overboard with vocal tracks. Curt Boettcher made it sound bigger than it actually was. Genius. (Him not me.)

Strange Weather

Another recording I did with the Palmer. I used to cover this at solo gigs long ago.

Division Day

I used to do this boogie rock arrangement of this song with the Stacks. I got one of those Palmer PDI03 speaker emulators and recorded this to test it out. Pretty cool tones come out of that little box.

Benton Harbour

I heard the Fiery Furnaces play an upbeat version of this song that I really dug and tried to mimic how I remembered hearing it while channeling a bit of Get Happy! I love how this came out.
